Larian Studios has released a new set of official player statistics for Baldur's Gate 3, putting perfectionistic players and their save habits under the microscope. According to the studio's data shared via social media and Steam, the quicksave key remains one of the most heavily utilized tools across the entire game.
Quick Facts
- 1,400+ Quicksaves: Made by an extreme handful of players in a single playthrough.
- 560+ Manual Saves: Recorded by a small number of players in a single run.
- Developer: Larian Studios.
The newly published figures highlight just how far some players will go to manage skill checks, lockpicking attempts, stealth rolls, and combat outcomes. While normal play involves using saves to manage unexpected crashes or back up important progress, the peak numbers reveal a style of play that heavily relies on micro-managing the timeline.
Larian previously addressed this tendency directly by introducing Honor Mode, a dedicated difficulty setting that completely forbids save scumming by limiting players to a single save file and enforcing permadeath.
