Valve has introduced a new feature allowing Steam users to organize wishlists into browseable, shareable collections. This update provides a solution for users who want to share specific parts of their wishlist—such as a list for birthdays or holidays—without exposing their entire collection or changing their global privacy settings.
How to Create a Shareable Wishlist Link
Follow these steps to generate a link for a specific collection:
- Open your Steam Wishlist. You can find this in the top-right corner of the Steam client or via the Store dropdown menu.
- Select the Category you wish to share from your list.
- Locate the share icon on the far right-hand side of the category menu.
- Click the icon to generate a unique link that you can send to friends.
Advanced Sharing and Tag Filtering
Beyond standard categories, you can generate shareable links based on specific game tags. By searching for a specific genre or tag, you can use the button located beneath your "My Categories" list to set that tag as a temporary category. Clicking the share icon while this tag is active will generate a link containing only the games that match that specific criteria.
Note that the URL shown in your browser's address bar while browsing does not function as a shareable link. You must use the link generated by the official share icon to ensure that your friends can view the list, especially if your primary account privacy is restricted. If you select multiple categories, the resulting shared view will only include games that exist within all selected categories simultaneously.
