Ubisoft has confirmed that the upcoming Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake will prioritize mechanical fidelity over systemic changes. In a recent discussion, project lead Jean-Félix Monin stated that the development team aims to preserve the "magical balance" achieved in the original 1999 title, which remains a cornerstone of the turn-based tactics genre.
Preserving Mechanical Balance
According to Monin, the decision to leave the original game's core balance untouched was made early in development. To ensure the remake respects the expectations of the dedicated community, Ubisoft established a panel of insiders to review design choices and gather feedback throughout the creation process.
Monin acknowledged that the balance of the original game is difficult to replicate, noting that even the series creator, Jon Van Caneghem, has expressed that the original design was a unique achievement. Because of this, the team's philosophy is one of "addition without subtraction."
