Technical Performance and Linux Compatibility
While the game functions under Proton without anti-cheat roadblocks, early testing highlights a few technical hurdles to keep in mind. The initial startup features a broken logo intro video—a common codec issue that can typically be resolved using GE-Proton. Additionally, the Epic Online Services overlay fails to load with Proton 11 and Proton Experimental, which restricts cross-platform progress syncing for players relying on Steam.
Performance on desktop hardware running Fedora KDE 44 with a Ryzen 5800X and Radeon 6800XT at 1440p on High settings with TSR scaling yields solid frame rates on open maps like desert environments. However, dense foliage maps like Quang Ngai present heavier demands, dropping below 60 FPS and requiring resolution scaling adjustments or tweaked graphical settings for a smoother experience.
Gameplay and Tactical Roles
The tactical shooter supports 50 vs 50 matches pitting the North Vietnamese Army against the US Armed Forces. Players can choose from 17 distinct battle roles spread across six battlefield units, including command, infantry, recon, armor, helicopter crews, and mortar squads. Unique mechanics include building tunnels for stealthy NVA ambushes and operating period-accurate vehicles such as helicopters and patrol boats across six historically inspired maps.
AMD FSR support is currently included in the game files but remains disabled at launch, with developers confirming it will roll out in a future update.
