Halo Studios has cut an unspecified number of staff following the launch of *Halo: Campaign Evolved*, with multiple contract workers confirming their departures on LinkedIn.
Quick Facts
- Game: Halo: Campaign Evolved
- Developer: Halo Studios
- Parent Company: Microsoft
- Timing: Staff departures announced following the game's launch last week
Producer Nick Treitman, who worked at the studio for six and a half years, shared news of his departure on LinkedIn. "After 6.5 years working on Halo and dodging just as many rounds of layoffs - it has finally caught up to me," Treitman wrote, noting that he had worked through multiple rounds before the recent cuts.
Paul Morris, a scrum master on *Campaign Evolved* with prior production credits on *The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered* and *Forza Motorsport 7*, also reported that his tenure concluded following the game's release. Both Treitman and Morris held contract roles at Halo Studios, indicating that the studio may have chosen not to renew fixed-term deals upon completion of the project rather than executing full-time layoffs.
These departures arrive during a broader period of workforce reductions across Microsoft's gaming division. In early July, Microsoft laid off approximately 1,600 workers while parting ways with several studios under its umbrella, including Double Fine, Arkane, Undead Labs, Compulsion, and Ninja Theory. Additional cuts have subsequently affected staff across Bethesda, Obsidian, id Software, and ZeniMax.
Xbox has been contacted for comment regarding the staffing changes at Halo Studios.
