Ubisoft has released the "Last Rites" update for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, introducing a highly requested mechanical change to the nine-year-old shooter. As part of the series' 25th-anniversary celebrations, players can now choose to carry only one primary weapon outside of the game's Ghost Mode.
Confirmed Changes and Availability
The update, which went live on August 6, 2026, addresses a long-standing community request to limit primary weapon slots. Previously, players were forced to carry two primary weapons at all times, regardless of their preferred playstyle or tactical approach.

Free Weekend Access
To coincide with the patch, Ubisoft has opened access to the game for new and returning players. This window provides an opportunity for players to test the new loadout system without purchasing the base game.
