The Gears of War: E-Day beta has reached a new milestone for the franchise on PC. During its early access phase, which began on August 6, the title reached a concurrent player peak of 14,331 on Steam. This figure surpasses the previous series record holder, Gears 5, which peaked at just over 10,000 players.

Quick Facts

  • Early Access Beta: August 6 – August 10
  • Open Beta: August 13 – August 17
  • Full Launch: October 6, 2026
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass Ultimate

The early access portion of the beta is currently restricted to players who pre-ordered the game. Because these record-breaking numbers were achieved prior to the general public release, the turnout suggests significant interest in the upcoming prequel. The open beta, which allows access for all players, follows from August 13 to August 17.

Participants in both beta windows gain access to the PvP Versus mode and the 12-player Horde mode. Developers have confirmed that the final game will feature “old-school” progression mechanics, focusing on unlocks earned through gameplay rather than complex grind systems.
