  • Beneficiaries: Game developers impacted by layoffs in the US and Canada

Amid ongoing gaming layoffs across the industry—including Microsoft's recent cuts affecting 3,200 employees and four studios—the United Videogame Workers union and Necrosoft Games have launched the Game Industry Hardship Fund bundle on Itch.io.

The bundle features more than 100 titles for a $10 purchase price. Funds raised directly support a union-administered hardship fund, providing financial assistance for out-of-work developers to cover essential living expenses such as rent, food, and healthcare.

What Games Are Included?

While the bundle leans heavily toward indie and offbeat projects, several recognizable titles are part of the lineup. Confirmed games include A Short Hike, Skatebird, Drywall Eating Simulator, Dungeon Bodega Simulator, You Can Save Everyone, Diorama Dungeoncrawl, and Dirtbag Majhong.

Who Is Eligible for the Funds?

The hardship fund, alongside the United Videogame Workers union, is restricted to game developers located in the US and Canada. Laid-off developers within those regions can apply through specific eligibility guidelines provided in the union's FAQ.

As of right now, the bundle has raised nearly $30,000. It remains available on Itch.io until August 14, 2026.
