Molleindustria's open world satire Future? No Thanks! remains heavily restricted on Steam, with developer Paolo Pedercini reporting that the PC game is still misclassified as pornography despite the complete removal of its associated sex quest.
The ecosocialist comedy follows a grumpy protagonist applying for state-supplied euthanasia while crossing off a bucket list. Following a last-minute delay prompted by Valve content moderators requesting a "watch the sex scene button" for cartoon nudity, the title remains locked behind age verification walls and is entirely geo-locked for users in Germany.
Current Steam Restrictions and Ratings Disconnect
Pedercini addressed the ongoing visibility issues in a social media update this week, noting the stark contrast between official content ratings and how the storefront handles the title. While Future? No Thanks! carries a USK 16 rating in Germany alongside an ESRB 12 and PEGI 12 rating elsewhere, the store page remains largely invisible.
"Even after we removed the entire sex quest, Steam mis-classifies Future? No Thanks! as pornography, making it invisible to most Steam users and completely geo-locked in Germany," Molleindustria stated. Pedercini further highlighted the situation at Gamescom in Cologne, where German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier posed for photos in front of a government-sponsored booth featuring the game.

For PC users attempting to access the game on Steam, the current administrative status means the store page triggers age-restriction blocks or remains entirely inaccessible depending on regional laws like the UK's Online Safety Act and Germany's USK guidelines.
