Fluxionary Studios has officially unveiled Time Distortionists, a single-player turn-based strategy game currently in development for Linux, Mac, and Windows. The studio launched a Steam page for the title alongside an announcement trailer, confirming the game is available for wishlisting.

Gameplay Mechanics and Core Loop

In Time Distortionists, players manage "The Anchor," a base positioned outside of standard cause and effect. The objective involves scanning 13 billion years of history to identify failing eras and deploying agents to intervene. Strategic decision-making is central to the gameplay, as players must balance the needs of different civilizations, knowing that saving one group may jeopardize another.

The game features five distinct agent types—Chronautes, Thaumaturgists, Mediators, Archivists, and Catalysts—each possessing specific skills required to manage historical crises. Players must also manage The Anchor’s limited space by constructing rooms for research, supplies, defense, and agent support, while placing sites across history to prevent "Erosion" from removing key events from the timeline.

Strategic Paths and Development Status

The narrative is driven by three primary paths: preservation, controlled chaos, and understanding. Each path dictates the tools and routes available to the player, culminating in a choice to either seal away the game's primary threat, "Stasis," or pursue it to its source. The developer notes that player actions influence the rise and fall of civilizations, with past interventions potentially triggering new crises later in the timeline.

While the Steam page confirms native support for Linux, Mac, and Windows, Fluxionary Studios has not yet provided a release date or confirmed compatibility with the Steam Deck.
