Embark Studios has officially cracked down on players exploiting Arc Raiders, issuing a wave of account suspensions and inventory seizures following an egregious series of item duplication glitches. The developer confirmed that it is actively targeting users who gained significant advantages through these exploits, continuing enforcement efforts that began earlier this year.
The Consequences of Exploitation
According to a post on the official Arc Raiders Discord server by community lead Ossen, the studio is categorizing punishments based on the severity of the abuse. Players who utilized the glitch to gain a massive, unfair advantage—such as flooding the game economy with rare weapons or abusing infinite grenades in PvP—are facing account suspensions.
For those who engaged in the exploit but with limited impact, the consequences are less severe but still immediate. Embark is performing what some players have dubbed a "reverse-Christmas," stripping accounts of all items and currency gained through the duplication method. Reddit user CWGM noted the community sentiment, describing a wave of "dupers in a stupor" as the punishments rolled out.
What to Expect if You Were Affected
The studio has clarified its stance on incidental involvement. If you happened to come across items or loot from a duper without knowingly participating in the glitch yourself, you are unlikely to face a ban. Ossen confirmed, "Our goal is to only take action against those who significantly and deliberately abused the exploit, not to catch players who were incidentally affected."
In these low-severity cases, the developer intends to issue warnings and remove the items rather than pursuing permanent or long-term suspensions. However, the studio warns that those who continue to seek out and deliberately use exploits will face the full weight of their enforcement policy.
This crackdown follows a recent game update that introduced highly requested matchmaking changes, allowing players to shift between solo "friendly questing" and "adrenaline-fueled PvP Trio games." As the team continues to balance the game's economy, these enforcement actions serve as a firm reminder that exploiting the system will not go unnoticed by the developers at Embark Studios.
