A new patch for Dying Light 2: Stay Human is rolling out on PC, bringing Update 1.29 to Villedor with a faster progression system, lighting adjustments, and gameplay tweaks designed to speed up early-game pacing.

Quick Facts

  • XP gains boosted for main and side missions to accelerate early skill unlocks.
  • UV lights and flashlights updated from pink-purple to a pale blue hue.
  • Viral Rush - Fully Loaded event makes Virals immune to sunlight with infinite ammo enabled for all firearms.
  • Co-op audio bug causing ear ringing from grenades has been fixed.
  • Renderer setting persistence and multiple crash fixes included.

Progression and Balance Changes

Players jumping into Villedor will notice a faster progression curve. Main missions now grant significantly higher XP rewards, with smaller boosts applied to side quests. This adjustment aims to let players unlock movement and combat abilities—such as slides, drop kicks, and heavy attacks—much earlier in their playthrough, smoothing out the first 10 hours and helping players reach legend levels sooner.

UV Lighting Adjustments

The latest patch refines UV light sources across the board to improve visual coherence. The UV flashlight, interactive objects like UV flares, map-based UV lights, and cutscene lighting have all shifted from their previous pink-purple tone to a subdued pale blue. Developer notes clarify that this release focuses purely on lighting modifications without altering other core gameplay mechanics.

Viral Rush - Fully Loaded Event

For players seeking a tougher challenge, the update introduces heightened tension across Villedor. Virals are now immune to sunlight, operating as a 24-hour threat. Trigger actions such as firing weapons, landing hits, and Screamer screams carry a higher chance of spawning Virals, including a special variant with enhanced immunities. To balance out the swarm, all firearms feature infinite ammo during the event.

Co-op and Technical Fixes

Update 1.29 also addresses several lingering bugs on PC:

  • Fixed a co-op bug where grenade explosions triggered unintended ear-ringing audio.
  • Resolved an elevator implementation issue for peers during the “A Place to Call Home” substation mission.
  • Corrected an issue where UV traps failed to emit light when deployed.
  • Fixed Renderer settings failing to save after changing options and restarting the game.
  • Addressed various crashes and missing voiceover lines for Barney, along with Tolga bounty localizations.
