Developer Hound13 has issued an Urgent Notice for DragonSword: Awakening on PC following a critical bug that causes the game to shut down when players interact with unpurchased downloadable content.

Quick Facts

  • Game: DragonSword: Awakening
  • Platform: PC (Steam)
  • Developer/Publisher: Hound13 Inc.
  • Issue: Equipping unpurchased DLC triggers a crash
  • Fix Schedule: Scheduled for deployment later today, July 23, 2026

What Caused the Crash?

According to the team behind the newly launched anime-style open-world RPG, an issue has been identified where DLC items—specifically costumes and familiars—that have not been purchased are incorrectly displayed in-game as if the player already owns them.

When players attempt to equip one of these unowned costumes or mount an unowned familiar, an abnormal pop-up appears on screen and immediately closes the application, forcing players back to their desktop.

Player Impact and How to Avoid It

Players jumping into the Continent of Orbis can continue their adventure normally, provided they avoid interacting with unpurchased store items.

Until the development team deploys the fixed build, players are strongly advised not to equip or mount any DLC (costumes or familiars) that they have not officially purchased. As long as players steer clear of equipping unowned items, normal gameplay remains unaffected.

Patch Deployment Timeline

Hound13 confirmed that the underlying cause has already been identified and that work on a patch is actively underway. The studio plans to roll out the updated build later today, July 23, 2026, and will publish a follow-up announcement once the fix is live.
