Developer Hound13 has released its official Mod Policy and Steam Workshop Support Plan for DragonSword : Awakening on PC, setting clear boundaries for community content creators ahead of official platform integration.
Quick Facts
- Platform: PC
- Developer: Hound13
- Official Mod Venue: Steam Workshop (upcoming)
- Co-Op Restriction: Disabled when any mods or modified files are active
Permitted and Prohibited Mods
Once Steam Workshop support officially launches, players will be permitted to use a specific range of community creations. Approved modifications include user-created free character skins, texture and color adjustments, partial character appearance updates like glasses and accessories, FOV and UI improvements, and gameplay mods designed to increase difficulty or introduce new challenges.
Conversely, the guidelines strictly prohibit unauthorized alterations. Prohibited content includes DLC unlockers, trainers, cheats, third-party IP use without permission, copyright infringements, unreleased data extracted via datamining, paid or paywalled mods, explicit sexual content, malware, and tools that bypass technical protection measures.
Co-Op Play Restrictions
Hound13 confirmed that co-op functionality will not function in environments where mods are active or where unauthorized game file modifications are detected. Co-op requires a strictly vanilla environment utilizing unmodified game files, and even permitted Steam Workshop mods will temporarily disable co-op features while active.
Technical Support Policy
While Steam Workshop serves as the official distribution channel, Hound13 does not guarantee the stability, compatibility, or proper functioning of individual mods after game updates. Technical issues such as crashes, save data corruption, performance drops, or progression blockages caused by mods are not covered by official support. Players experiencing issues are advised to test the game in a clean environment with all mods removed.
