CD Projekt Red has confirmed a new round of layoffs affecting Project Sirius, the studio’s ongoing multiplayer Witcher spinoff. A total of 18 staff members have been cut from the project, which remains in development.

Quick Facts

  • Staff Impact: 18 employees were laid off from the Project Sirius team.
  • Redundancy Status: Half of the affected staff were made redundant, while the other half were invited to apply for open roles on other internal projects at CD Projekt Red.
  • Project Scale: These 18 individuals account for roughly 25% of the total team currently assigned to the game.

This follows a previous round of staff reductions that occurred after the project underwent a development reboot in 2023. Project Sirius was originally announced in 2022, but the developer has provided no public updates or gameplay demonstrations since that time.

The project was originally spearheaded by The Molasses Flood, a studio acquired by CD Projekt in 2021. While the acquisition agreement initially stated that the studio would maintain its separate identity, that arrangement concluded in 2025 when The Molasses Flood was fully absorbed into the parent company.

Beyond the confirmed staff reduction figures, the current scope of the game and its expected release window remain unknown. Project Sirius is still officially described as an RPG, though specific details regarding its gameplay or multiplayer structure have not been shared by the publisher.
