Castlevania veteran Koji Igarashi has announced a delay for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, pushing the spiritual successor's release window from 2026 into 2027. Originally revealed during a 2025 State of Play, the prequel to Kickstarter-funded Ritual of the Night has now entered its final stages of development at ArtPlay.

Igarashi shared the delay in a video posted to ArtPlay's YouTube channel, acknowledging the disappointment for fans while emphasizing that the development team is working to make the game as strong as possible. Additional details and new screenshots were published simultaneously on the game's Steam blog post, alongside word that the team hopes to share gameplay footage soon.

ArtPlay thanked players for their continued patience and support following the announcement, noting that fan enthusiasm remains a primary motivator for the studio as production wraps up.
