Owners of the upcoming Steam Frame headset will not be able to run Blade & Sorcery as a standalone application. In a recent update, developer Wully confirmed that the title will be marked as “unsupported” for the device’s native mode, citing the game's high performance requirements.

“Even turning the graphics down and lowering settings, it’s just a bit too heavy to run via proton/fex,” Wully stated. The developer emphasized that while the standalone experience is not feasible, the game remains accessible through the headset’s wireless PC streaming capabilities.
Steam Frame and PC Streaming
Valve has positioned the Steam Frame as a streaming-first device, equipped with a dedicated wireless adapter for low-latency connections to gaming PCs. While the headset features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 16GB of RAM, allowing for standalone play of compatible titles, the hardware is not intended to replace the raw power of a desktop or laptop for the most demanding VR experiences.
For players still looking for a portable Blade & Sorcery experience, the developer noted the existence of Blade & Sorcery: Nomad. While no official announcement has been made regarding a specific Steam Frame port, the existing standalone version of the game—which utilizes lower-fidelity graphics and reduced physical simulations—is a likely candidate for future “Great on Frame” certification.
