Quick Facts
- Version: 0.39
- Platform: PC
- Key Additions: Cherrier Ardente sports coupe, Utah gravel rally stages, graphics overhaul, aerodynamic physics
BeamNG.drive has rolled out version 0.39, which developers describe as the sandbox game's biggest update yet. The patch delivers a sweeping graphical overhaul to PC players alongside new vehicles, map improvements, and physics upgrades designed for realistic vehicular mayhem in gaming news.
Visual enhancements start with better shadow stability and reduced sunlight flicker. The update introduces HDR output support on Vulkan and Direct3D 12 for improved color rendering on compatible monitors. Looking upward, players will notice newly added volumetric clouds and a physically-based night sky synchronized with real astronomical values, including latitude, longitude, date, time of day, a constellation database, and Milky Way rendering.
Interface updates include a revamped pause menu optimized for controller navigation and modder tweaks, alongside a separate UI overhaul for photo mode. Every vehicle in the fleet also receives movable sun visors to improve the view from the cabin.
New Vehicles, Maps, and Physics Changes
The headline vehicle addition is the Cherrier Ardente, a sporty coupe built for drifting and rallying. Meanwhile, the game's fleet gains movable sun visors across all models. For environment updates, the patch adds new gravel rally stages in Utah for rally mode alongside map improvements for the West and East Coast American regions.
Under the hood, version 0.39 introduces a new aerodynamic physics system. Airflow generated by one car now physically affects nearby vehicles, allowing for drafting and bumps during races.
