1047 Games announced on August 26, 2026, that it is ending active development for both EMPULSE and SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded. Citing unsustainable costs for dedicated servers, the studio confirmed it will shift both titles to a peer-to-peer hosting model starting September 3, 2026.
Quick Facts
- Transition Date: September 3, 2026.
- New Hosting Model: Dedicated servers and official matchmaking will shut down, replaced by peer-to-peer play and a server browser.
- EMPULSE Update: The game will receive one final map and a permanent price reduction across all regions.
- Player Impact: Players will retain the ability to host matches and play with friends indefinitely.
Future of 1047 Games
In an official statement, co-founders Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian noted that the decision follows ten years of focus on live-service shooters. While active development on these titles is concluding, the studio expressed that it does not want to shut the games down entirely, preferring to allow the community to keep playing via the new peer-to-peer infrastructure.
The developers confirmed they will continue to play the games and maintain a presence in the studio's Discord community. Regarding future projects, the studio indicated that its next developments may differ from its previous work in the shooter genre.
