Nintendo Switch 2 Surpasses 6 Million Units Sold in Japan

The latest hardware data from Famitsu confirms that the Nintendo Switch 2 has officially crossed the 6 million mark in Japan. The system sold another 28,755 units between July 6th and July 12th, bringing its lifetime total to 6,026,931 consoles.

The Switch 2 is currently closing the gap on the Switch Lite, which sits at just under 7 million units sold. Meanwhile, the original Switch models saw significantly lower movement, with the OLED, Lite, and standard models combining for roughly 8,712 units sold—less than the 10,657 units moved by the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition alone.

Software Sales Dominated by Rhythm Heaven

Rhythm Heaven Groove continues its impressive run at the top of the Japanese boxed charts. With another 126,073 copies sold this week, the game has officially surpassed 500,000 total units sold.

The week also saw several high-profile debuts, including Magical Girl with Trials, which entered the charts at number two. The Digimon Story: Time Stranger ports also performed well, landing at number six on Switch 2 and number eight on the original Switch.

Japanese Software Top 10 (July 6th – July 12th)

With these new releases taking up space in the top ten, Star Fox has dropped out of the list entirely this week. Hardware figures across the board remain varied, with the Xbox Series consoles seeing minimal unit sales, totaling 157 units combined across all three models.
