Developer Fumi Games has deployed a massive update for Mouse: P.I. For Hire, bringing the game to version 1.2.0. This patch introduces several long-requested features for Nintendo Switch 2 players, most notably a new “Balanced” graphics mode that targets 40fps, alongside support for uncapped Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on compatible displays.
New Features and Quality of Life
The headline addition for many will be the new level replay feature. Players can now revisit previously completed stages via the overworld map to track down missing collectibles or finish side quests they may have skipped. To access this, players who have already beaten the game simply need to load their latest save file to be transported to the HUB zone, where the overworld map becomes available.
The update also focuses on the game's UI and accessibility. The weapon wheel has received a visual uplift, now clearly displaying weapon upgrade levels for better readability. Additionally, Fumi Games has addressed control customization by adding horizontal axis inversion options and overhauling the control rebinding system for improved reliability. Other small but welcome changes include audio confirmation when applying settings and a failsafe to ensure players who miss the kick tutorial in 'Vaudeville' don't run into progression issues later on.
Extensive Bug Fixes and Stability
Version 1.2.0 is heavy on technical housekeeping. The patch notes detail a wide array of fixes for stability and crashes, including resolutions for freezes when system memory reaches its limit and various crashes that could occur on launch or during specific boss encounters, such as the Ze Professor fight in the 'Mouseburg Grand Opera'.
Progression blockers have been a major focus for this release. The team addressed numerous instances where players could become trapped by geometry or invisible colliders, particularly in levels like 'The Depths', 'Tinsel Avenue', and 'Wallop Bay'. Combat-related issues—such as the Grappling Tail failing to function after saving and loading, or weapons firing in unintended bursts—have also been corrected.
For a full breakdown of the technical changes, including specific localization fixes for Polish, Turkish, and other languages, players can check the official patch notes on the official game website. These updates are available immediately for all Nintendo Switch 2 users.
