"Until now, Layton games were always fairly compact, and I think people like the good feeling you get once you finish them," Hino said. "This game preserves that feeling, but adds a little more content. Please pay attention not just to the puzzles, but to the story as well."
Designing for a Global Audience
The decision to employ Quizknock for puzzle development is intended to ensure the challenges meet a "very high level" of quality. Because the game is set for a simultaneous worldwide release, the developers have moved away from puzzles reliant on Japanese language characters.
Instead, players can expect mechanics that revolve around physical interaction, such as placing weights on scales or analyzing specific imagery. Hino described these as feeling more like distinct mini-games, intended to be intuitive regardless of the player's native language.
