Gameplay and Mechanics
The game takes place in a world where obsidian monoliths fell from the sky decades ago, spreading darkness and swallowing the kingdom. Players use Lueur, a small fiery companion whose light reclaims the realm tile by tile, to gather resources, explore, and shape settlement development. Buildings feed into evolving stories with choices that affect community outcomes.
To break up city management, the game includes minigames inspired by farming sims and RPGs that reward successful runs with bonus resources. Dawnfolk supports both real-time and turn-based modes alongside adjustable difficulty settings, keeping tutorials minimal and relying on experimentation.
