Alpha Channel and publisher Kepler Interactive have announced that the vehicular RPG TankRat will launch on January 15, 2027. The game is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Gameplay and Customization
In TankRat, players control Whittaker, a digitized human consciousness capable of fusing with tanks. The game centers on a "kitbashing" mechanic, allowing players to salvage parts from defeated enemies and the surrounding world to customize their vehicle. According to creative director Daniel Ebanks, this system is designed to facilitate diverse combat strategies, which are essential for navigating the game's six explorable areas and defeating seven giant mech bosses.
Players can choose between nimble, mobility-focused builds or heavy, defensive configurations. With over 25 weapons available, the game encourages players to experiment with their loadout to overcome specific boss mechanics and environmental challenges.
Setting and Narrative
The story follows Whittaker’s journey through a dystopian, sci-fi world as he attempts to reach a city known as Highpoint. The narrative explores themes of consciousness and morality, facilitated by a guide character named Cyril. While the studio has confirmed the release date and core mechanics, details regarding Steam Deck compatibility remain unannounced at this time.
