Story and Premise

The narrative centers on Will, a lighthouse keeper, widower, and father to young Thomas. When a massive storm triggers a landslide that damages Will's home, he discovers that his son has been taken across the waves by Will's father toward a nearby town. Fixing his own boat, Will sets off in pursuit across the northern sea, beginning a journey of self-discovery.

Sailing and Transport Mechanics

GameGrin highlighted the title's transport mechanics—particularly sailing and dog sledding—as amazingly detailed. Piloting the small craft requires switching between engine and wind power, balancing sails, and avoiding debris. However, the review noted a major caveat: despite the effort put into these systems, the game frequently handwaves or automatically skips large portions of travel after a few moments despite offering a "Skip Sailing" button.

Puzzle Design and Visual Findings

The gameplay mixes linear exploration with light puzzle-solving. Players use a mystical lighthouse lantern with three colored lights to view ghostly shades of the past. While GameGrin enjoyed some puzzles—such as fixing devices, navigating to ledges, and manipulating radio waves—the publication criticized sudden spikes in difficulty that lack clues, out-of-sync objective markers, and unclear sidequests.

Visually, the environment design received praise for its spectacular scenery, old lighthouses, and environmental storytelling. Conversely, GameGrin reported that character models and fauna suffer from blocky, robotic animations reminiscent of early PlayStation 2 graphics, creating an unpolished feel alongside mixed language signage.
