Why Steam Flagged Spanking Exorcist

Steam censorship surrounding adult and mature content has drawn increased attention over the last 12 months. Activist groups like Collective Shout have called on payment processors to halt purchases of adult-oriented titles, prompting platforms like Steam, Itch, and Kickstarter to remove or restrict certain games.

Indefinite Delay and New Release Window

The game was originally scheduled to launch on July 24, 2026. Because the build review process was not completed in time to meet that window, the solo creator decided to postpone the release indefinitely.

"We've been going back and forth with exchanges like that to address the issues, but since the review hasn't been completed yet, it's become difficult to meet the original release date," the developer shared in a statement on Twitter. A new release date has not been announced, but work continues to address the platform's feedback.

Despite being a niche title, interest in the project was evident ahead of launch. Data shared by the creator revealed that over 7,000 players had wishlisted Spanking Exorcist prior to the postponement.
