Developer GSC Game World has announced that the Cost of Hope expansion for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will launch on August 20. The release will arrive alongside a significant technical overhaul for the title.

New Story and Technical Upgrades

In Cost of Hope, players return to the role of Skif as the conflict between the Duty and Freedom factions reaches a turning point. The content is designed to weave into the main game's narrative, tasking players with investigating a mysterious PDA signal that leads to new, uncharted locations and encounters.

Launching in tandem with the expansion, Update 2.0 brings a major technical shift by upgrading the game to a new version of Unreal Engine 5. GSC Game World stated that this update includes a variety of general content additions and improvements, provided at no extra cost to current players.

The developer plans to release more specific details regarding the expansion's features and the technical adjustments in Update 2.0 in the weeks leading up to the August 20 launch.
