Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have moved aggressively against recent GTA 6 security breaches, taking a prominent leaker's official channels offline after weeks of unauthorized footage surfaced online.

Quick Facts

  • Targeted Platforms: The leaker's Telegram channel, website, and associated X accounts were taken down or blocked under copyright infringement and content policies.
  • Legal Action: Take-Two filed subpoenas in the Southern District Court of New York on August 20, 2026, targeting Microsoft and Discord.
  • Court Deadline: A September 5 deadline has been set for Microsoft and Discord to release records identifying the user behind the "cyberleek" persona.

Takedowns and Platform Enforcement

Following a week of leaked gameplay clips showing the anticipated title in action, Rockstar succeeded in pulling down the leaker's primary digital infrastructure. The leaker's website currently returns a "blocked ID" message stating the content was blocked on request due to content policy violations. Additionally, the associated Telegram channel was shut down by the service provider for copyright infringement.

Despite the platform purges, activity has persisted. A clip emerged on X showing a recording of Grand Theft Auto VI's loading screen and a PC setup, put forward as proof that the individual possesses a full build of the game. However, numerous copycat accounts bearing identical monikers have flooded social media platforms, making it difficult to verify authentic communications.

Take-Two Subpoenas Microsoft and Discord

The operational crackdown coincides with formal legal proceedings. Take-Two Interactive headed to federal court to subpoena Microsoft and Discord records to track down the individual operating under the "CYBERLEEK" handle, alongside related aliases such as "CINEMATICROCKSTAR" and "Surfer24k™".

The court filing sets a strict September 5 deadline for internal business records, investigative files, and user communications associated with the leaks. The publisher asserts that the unauthorized distribution of audiovisual content, artwork, dialogue, and creative elements has caused extensive commercial damage, with previous leak incidents resulting in hundreds of millions in valuation losses.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
