Ahead of next month's launch of the Pokemon Trading Card Game 30th Anniversary expansion, the first card from the heavily hyped set has hit the secondary market and commanded a four-figure price tag. An Anniversary Mew Futuristic Rare card sold on eBay for $1,400 following an auction that attracted 24 bids.

The early sale marks the first verified transaction from the upcoming expansion following a series of early pack openings and live streams by players, collectors, and store owners who received stock ahead of schedule. The 30th Anniversary set features 30 different Pikachus, Art Rares, reprinted franchise favorites, and the debut of the Futuristic Rare card type. These special cards showcase Mew or Mewtwo styled like a negative photograph.

Following the initial sale, additional listings have emerged on eBay. Another Mew ex Futuristic Rare surfaced with a starting bid of $1,500 and a Buy It Now price of $2,500, while a Mewtwo ex Futuristic Rare auction reached $1,223.84 with 28 bids.

Industry expectations suggest that stock for the 30th-anniversary expansion will be plentiful—potentially double the volume of recent sets—meaning secondary market prices for chase cards like the Mew Futuristic Rare are expected to drop significantly once the set officially releases and more packs are opened by the wider public.
