Pearl Abyss has finally addressed a major point of feedback in Crimson Desert. Since the game's launch in March 2026, the focus has largely been on the protagonist, Kliff. While players could take control of Damiane and Oongka, the two characters often felt less developed, lacking the extensive customization options and world access afforded to Kliff. Following a roadmap released in June, Patch 1.13 is now live across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC, aiming to give all three characters a more equitable share of the spotlight.
Expanded Access and Customization
The most significant change for those who prefer playing as someone other than Kliff is the ability for both Damiane and Oongka to enter the Abyss. This major area, which was previously locked off for these characters, is now fully accessible. To accommodate this, Pearl Abyss has reshuffled the locations of memory fragments, providing a reason for players to revisit the Abyss for boss rematches.
Customization has also received a substantial overhaul. Oongka can now equip most of the outfits previously exclusive to Kliff, with 39 new equipment pieces added in this update. Damiane isn't being left behind either; players can now equip outfits based on the Odeck, Dark Marksman, and Masked Liberator bosses, alongside eight new pieces of armor specifically for the character.
Quality of Life and Combat Tweaks
Beyond character-specific improvements, Patch 1.13 introduces several quality-of-life features for all players. You can now hide the minimap and status HUD elements via the settings menu, and your pets will now rest alongside your character when you sleep in a bed. A new item, the "Hunter’s Sigil," has also been added, allowing bird pets to retrieve prey and gatherable items.
Combat and controls have seen a variety of adjustments to smooth out the experience:
- Muskets and pistols can now be fired while sliding.
- Axiom Force now triggers immediately on the target when using a soft lock-on.
- Improved flight animations for the Wyvern.
- Various fixes for character-specific skills, such as Damiane’s Smiting Strike and Oongka’s Aerial Grapple.
The update also includes a host of technical fixes, including addressing stuttering cutscenes on PlayStation 5 and resolving occasional crashes that occurred when opening the map or during boss rematches.
