Unchained Entertainment has announced an extension to the current Camelot Unchained early access testing period. Following a series of login issues that forced the developers to take servers offline for the duration of the previous weekend, the studio is keeping the game online 24/7 through Monday, August 3, 2026.

Technical Causes Behind the Outage

The developer confirmed that the recent service interruption was caused by new code implemented in the latest update. Specifically, testing revealed a hidden issue that occurred when characters attempted to transition between zones under certain load conditions. This technical hurdle necessitated a full server shutdown to address the instability.

Upcoming Updates and Content

While the current patch, version 0.45.1, focuses primarily on three specific bug fixes, the studio has outlined plans for the next release. Unchained Entertainment stated that the forthcoming update will introduce the first draft of a new class progression system alongside the implementation of player quests.

The decision to extend the current testing window serves as an expression of gratitude toward the community for their support during the recent instability. The developers emphasized that this 24/7 access is a temporary measure and does not indicate a permanent shift toward an "always-online" model for the project's testing phases.

A Brief History of the Project

Camelot Unchained, which was originally Kickstarted in 2013, has navigated a lengthy development cycle. The project reached its "beta one" phase in 2018 and has seen various milestones, including a 2026 pivot that saw the game enter early access on Steam this past June. The title continues to be developed by Unchained Entertainment, with the team currently working to stabilize and refine the experience for participants.
