Larian Studios has resumed its weekly content rollout for the console version of Baldur's Gate 3. Following a three-week pause, the latest update introduces 15 new pieces of content, ranging from new character classes to significant gameplay adjustments.

Quick Facts

  • New Classes & Subclasses: Includes a spellcasting Barbarian (based on Mage Hand Press homebrew) and a Shadow Reaper class inspired by Kayne from League of Legends.
  • Level Cap Increase: The maximum level for characters has been raised to 40.
  • Party Additions: Aylin and Isobel are now available to be recruited as full party members with specific interactions in Act 3.
  • Druid Updates: Added multiple Wildshape options including Raptor, Spiders, Boar, Owlcat, Wolf, Rabbits, and Rats.

New Gameplay and Customization

The update brings several mechanical shifts to the console experience. The addition of a spellcasting Barbarian allows for magic use while in a rage, while the new Shadow Reaper class offers two specializations: the Shadow Assassin and the Darkin Slayer. Furthermore, the "Short Rest Tweaks" mod now allows players to recover spell slots, sorcery points, and rage charges during short rests.

Customization options have also been expanded with the addition of 50 pieces of Gith-themed armor, 10 draconic-style tails, and new hairstyle options, including a fresh look for Shadowheart in Acts 1 and 2 and 11 punk-inspired styles for all races.

Impact on Console Players

Unlike the PC version of Baldur's Gate 3, which benefits from the extensive Nexus Mods library, console players rely on Larian Studios to vet and manually implement community-created content. This latest batch reflects the developer's ongoing effort to bridge that gap. By introducing significant changes like the level 40 cap and the ability to recruit unique NPCs like Aylin and Isobel, this update provides console users with substantial mechanical variety that aligns more closely with the flexibility found in the PC modding scene.
