Twitch has added a privacy setting that lets streamers stop Amazon from using their channel content to train generative AI models. Because the setting is enabled by default, creators who wish to exclude their content from future training must manually change their account preferences.

Steps to Opt Out of Twitch Generative AI Training

  1. Sign in to your account on Twitch.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Security and Privacy tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Training for Generative AI section.
  5. Toggle the setting to off.

What the Setting Controls

Turning this toggle off prevents your streams, VODs, clips, chat messages, and channel text or images from being used to train Amazon's systems that synthesize new text, audio, images, or video. Twitch specifies that this setting only applies to future model training, meaning it does not remove content that may have already been used in existing models.

This preference is strictly channel-specific. If you participate in another creator's chat, your messages are governed by that channel owner’s privacy preferences rather than your own.

Does This Affect Other Twitch Features?

Disabling generative AI training does not stop Twitch from using machine learning for standard platform operations. Essential features such as AutoMod, automatic captions, and content recommendation systems remain fully active regardless of your choice.
