DoorDash has expanded its mobile app offerings to include the sale of digital video game codes. Despite the company's reputation for physical delivery, these game purchases are strictly digital transactions that do not involve a delivery driver.
How the Digital Code Service Works
The service, which is currently limited to shoppers in the US, allows users to purchase digital redemption codes and PINs directly through the DoorDash mobile app. The company has partnered with InComm Digital Solutions to facilitate these sales, with transactions handled by DoorDash Giftcards LLC.
Once a purchase is completed, the redemption code is sent to the email address provided at checkout. From there, the customer is responsible for redeeming the code on the appropriate platform, such as the Nintendo eShop or the Microsoft Store.
Quick Facts
- Availability: Currently live in the US via the DoorDash mobile app.
- Publishers supported: Includes Nintendo, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, and Blizzard.
- Refund Policy: All sales are final; no refunds or exchanges are permitted, even if the code is lost or an incorrect email address is provided.
The company has explicitly stated that the games and redemption content belong to the external publishers, not DoorDash. This move continues the company's push to diversify beyond food and pharmacy delivery, placing digital games alongside other retail items currently available on the platform.
