  • Platforms: Linux, Mac, Windows
  • Multiplayer: Local for up to four players

If you have ever wanted to turn a polite game of tabletop foosball into an absolute disaster, Nano Knight Studio has you covered. The Brazilian developer is set to launch Pimbolas on July 16, 2026, bringing a high-energy, arcade-style take on the sport to PC, Mac, and Linux.

Born from an internal game jam, Pimbolas avoids the route of a traditional sports simulator. Instead, it focuses on fast-paced, chaotic matches where the rules shift mid-game. Players shouldn't expect a standard pitch; the game introduces wild variables like explosive bombs, fireballs, ice balls, giant planets, and even crabs to keep the action unpredictable.

A Native Release for Linux Players

For the Linux community, this release is particularly notable for its native support. Rather than relying on Proton-only compatibility, the developer has confirmed a native build, with a playable demo already live on Steam for those who want to test the performance on their own hardware before the full launch.

While excitement is building for the title, official details regarding Steam Deck support remain unconfirmed. Nano Knight Studio has not yet announced a Verified status for the handheld device, but given the game's focus on local multiplayer and native Linux architecture, it remains a title to watch for those with a docked SteamOS setup.

Arcade Chaos With a Brazilian Spirit

The gameplay is designed to be accessible but difficult to put down, supporting up to four players in local multiplayer sessions. Solo players are also accommodated via an Arcade Mode against the CPU, which allows for the progression-based unlocking of new items, characters, and challenges.

Designer “Baptixta” noted that the project is intended as a tribute to the spirit of both football and traditional foosball, blending comedy with competitive tension. The development team cited inspirations ranging from Rocket League and Mario Strikers to Super Smash Bros. reflecting a desire to blend sports-style intensity with party-game accessibility.

With the July 16 release date approaching, players can head over to the official Steam page to check out the current demo and see if the chaotic, table-flipping action of Pimbolas is a fit for their next couch gaming session.
