Discord GIF Support Remains Stable Despite Google's Tenor API Shutdown

If you open your GIF search box in Discord right now, you will notice the interface now explicitly displays "Search Klipy," confirming that the migration is complete.

Because the shift happened gradually during the lead-up to today's announcement, many users likely did not notice a change at all. The library remains populated, and the functionality you are accustomed to remains intact.

A Wider Industry Shift

Discord is not the only platform that had to pivot in response to Google’s decision to take the Tenor API private. WhatsApp, for instance, moved over to Klipy back in January. Meanwhile, X (formerly Twitter) has also transitioned to an alternative GIF library, though they have not publicly specified which provider they are using.
