Grand Theft Auto 6 is approaching its November 19, 2026, release date, and Take-Two Interactive reports that pre-order interest is currently at an "unprecedented" level. During an earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick declined to share specific sales figures, noting that the company does not believe in claiming success before the game reaches consumers, but described the current demand as "astonishing" and "exceptional."
Digital Distribution and Physical Media
Addressing the absence of a traditional physical disc release for the title, Zelnick explained that the company's business model is now over 90 percent digitally distributed. He stated that for major releases, physical discs "don’t really make sense for the consumer," particularly because most modern games require online registration or connectivity regardless of the media format.
While Zelnick suggested that the industry is moving toward an all-digital future, he noted that physical editions might still appear occasionally, comparing them to the niche market for vinyl records in the music industry. As of now, retail outlets are offering physical versions of Grand Theft Auto 6 that consist of a download code in a box.
Pricing and Future Updates
Take-Two confirmed the pricing structure for the game, with the Standard Edition set at $79.99 (£69.99) and the Deluxe Edition at $99.99 (£89.99). Zelnick stated that Rockstar Games set these prices, and that the company has observed consumer interest across both versions.
Players should expect more information regarding the game's content soon, as a special "Extended Look" at the title is scheduled to be revealed on Netflix later in August 2026.
