Infinity Ward has outlined the upcoming schedule for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, confirming that the game’s official multiplayer reveal will take place during the Call of Duty: NEXT event on August 21, 2026. Following the broadcast, the first wave of beta testing will open to those who have pre-ordered the title on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Beta Access and Content
The beta rollout is split into two distinct weekends. The Early Access period runs from August 21 through August 25. Players who participate will have access to a variety of content, including the new "Kill Block" multiplayer mode, which debuted at Fanatics Fest. Set in the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, Kill Block supports 10v10 gunfights.
The second weekend, designated as the Open Beta, runs from August 28 through September 1. This session is accessible to all players on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, regardless of pre-order status. During the beta, players can test 19 different weapons, experience the "Training Mobility Course," and utilize various operators, including those from the Vault Edition's "Hostile Alliance" and "Special Forces" packs.
Serialized Weapon Camo Challenge
Activision has detailed a "first-of-its-kind" serialized weapon camo incentive. Players who digitally pre-order Modern Warfare 4 gain access to the "Moonlit Pearl" universal camo in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Additionally, a challenge launching on July 23 at 12 PM PT allows players to earn the "Gilded Ruin" universal camo.
The first 100,000 players to reach a 5,000 Skull Score in Black Ops 7 by eliminating enemies across multiplayer, Zombies, Warzone, or Endgame modes will receive a unique, serialized variant of the Gilded Ruin camo, with their specific number (1–100,000) engraved on the weapon finish. These rewards will carry over to Modern Warfare 4 at its October 23 launch.
Nintendo Switch 2 Availability
Modern Warfare 4 is confirmed for a native release on Nintendo Switch 2, developed by Infinity Ward in partnership with Digital Legends. Pre-orders for the Switch 2 version open on August 26, 2026. Players on this platform will be able to join the second weekend of the Open Beta beginning August 28, provided they have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Additional Hardware Collaborations
Beyond digital content, Infinity Ward revealed a collaboration with Aston Martin. The "Aston Martin Dreadnought" concept vehicle, shown at Fanatics Fest, will be playable in the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 DMZ and Call of Duty: Warzone modes.
