A 40% Larger World With New Regions

The 1.0 release expands the game's open world by 40% with the introduction of two distinct areas: the Sandswept Highlands and Hollow Marsh. The Sandswept Highlands features a sprawling desert landscape complete with towering mesas, ancient ruins, valuable late-game materials, and tougher Floaters. Meanwhile, Hollow Marsh offers blue grass, red waters, mist-covered swamps, and a mysterious Starfall Tree.

Alongside the new areas, the update delivers the final chapter of the main storyline. Two additional milestones unlock fresh constructs, upgrades, and mech modifications for players returning to establish or expand their interstellar homesteads.

Mech Enhancements and Flight Mechanics

The primary vehicle and tool of the game, the trusty mech, receives significant improvements in the 1.0 update. Tool and body-part progression is now streamlined, eliminating the need to repeatedly recraft equipment at every tier.

Most notably, the update introduces the new Skyblazer transform mode, granting continuous flight capabilities to open up new exploration routes. Improved hover thrusters and rapid-fire seeding mod chips also streamline large-scale farming operations.

Quality of Life and Difficulty Customization

Beyond mech modifications, the update introduces a dynamic weather system for smoother environmental transitions. New automated item filters route stored resources directly toward crafting, while recipe queuing and a planning mode help players organize building placement before committing materials.

A unified difficulty system gives players granular control over parameters like damage, day length, fuel consumption, environmental hazards, crafting times, and crop growth rates. Players can purchase and download the full version of Lightyear Frontier directly via the Xbox Store or Steam.
