Disney and Square Enix's upcoming Kingdom Hearts IV has been confirmed as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, carrying a late 2027 release window following new details from Disney's D23 Event. For players utilizing Microsoft's ecosystem, the Play Anywhere designation means purchasing the digital game once lets you play across both Xbox Series X|S hardware and the Xbox PC app without paying twice.

Platforms and Wishlist Availability

While the game is still more than a year away from its late 2027 launch window, players can already add the title to their digital wishlists. Kingdom Hearts IV is currently available to wishlist across multiple platforms:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Xbox on PC
  • Nintendo Switch 2
  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store

Notably, the upcoming Kingdom Hearts I-III re-releases arriving in October do not currently feature the Play Anywhere tag, leaving the feature exclusive to the upcoming fourth mainline entry for now.

New World and Character Details

The D23 showcase also provided a look at narrative elements expected in the upcoming adventure. The world of Disney and Pixar's Coco is officially joining Kingdom Hearts IV. Gameplay features include action sequences where players control Donald and Goofy, alongside an exploration segment focused on King Mickey as he searches for clues regarding the whereabouts of the missing Sora.
