Sales Breakdown Across Platforms

While concrete sales figures are not yet available, Alinea Analytics has shared a detailed breakdown of sales estimates for the remake. According to these figures, Campaign Evolved has sold an almost identical number of copies on PS5 as it has on Xbox Series X|S. Of the estimated 1.2 million copies sold, 41.8% were purchased on Xbox, while 40.8% were picked up on PS5.

Steam sales account for the remaining 17.4% of purchases. The lower PC figures remain unsurprising, given that players can purchase the full Master Chief Collection on Steam for a lower price.

For comparison, historical data from VG Sales shows that every mainline Halo release since Halo 3 has sold at least 9 million copies, excluding Halo Infinite. As the first entry in the series available on PlayStation, expectations for Campaign Evolved to act as a sales juggernaut were high, bolstered further by the stellar performance of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5.

The Impact of Game Pass on Remake Sales

Unlike previous entries in the franchise, Campaign Evolved launched day one on Xbox Game Pass. While sales numbers on Xbox and PlayStation remain remarkably close, a significantly higher volume of players experienced the game on Series X|S through the subscription service. Alinea Analytics estimates that 2.1 million people played through Game Pass.

The availability on Game Pass absorbed a major portion of the potential player base on Microsoft's console. While it does not represent pure lost sales, a significant chunk of those 2.1 million players likely would have purchased the remake outright had it not been included in the subscription model at launch.
