Forza Horizon 6 has officially become the top-earning new game on Steam for 2026. According to data from Alinea Analytics, the title has pulled in $197.7 million in gross revenue since its release less than two months ago, significantly outperforming the launch trajectory of 2021's Forza Horizon 5.
Quick Facts
- Total Steam Revenue: $197.7 million
- Steam Copies Sold: 3.5 million
- DLC Revenue: $4 million (includes ~$2 million from VIP Membership)
- Revenue Velocity: Launch-aligned, it is performing three times faster than Forza Horizon 5.
The revenue breakdown highlights the impact of additional content, with $4 million attributed to DLC sales. Of that figure, approximately $2 million was driven by the game's VIP Membership, which grants players perks such as double event cash.
While Steam serves as a major platform for the title, it is not the only source of income for Xbox Game Studios. The game is also available via the Xbox PC app, where many users access it through Game Pass or as a standalone purchase via the Xbox Store. Previous estimates from June suggested that 6.4 million copies had been sold across all platforms, with roughly six million additional players engaging with the title through the Game Pass subscription service.
Competitive Performance
Securing the top spot on Steam is a notable achievement given the platform's high level of competition. Forza Horizon 6 has managed to surpass other significant 2026 releases in revenue, including Resident Evil Requiem and Crimson Desert.
Despite the success of the title, the broader environment at Xbox has been difficult, with the company recently announcing 3,200 job cuts and the closure of four studios. However, there has been no word regarding layoffs at Playground Games, with the success of Forza Horizon 6 and the anticipation surrounding the studio's upcoming Fable title likely positioning the developer as a key pillar for Xbox moving forward.
