Earth isn't what you remember. Buried beneath a choking blanket of toxic dust, civilization has long since collapsed, leaving only the remnants of humanity clinging to survival. After months of anticipation, Forever Skies has finally arrived on Xbox Series X|S, bringing its distinctive blend of survival, exploration, and airship management to Microsoft's console — complete with its biggest update yet.

Home Is Where Your Airship Is

Most survival games begin by dropping you into hostile wilderness with little more than the clothes on your back. Forever Skies takes a different approach. Your greatest tool — and your only real sanctuary — is a fully customizable high-tech airship. More than just transport, it serves as your workshop, laboratory, storage facility, and home as you drift above the poisonous clouds searching for answers.

Every expedition feeds back into improving your floating base. Resources gathered from abandoned skyscrapers and the decaying remains of civilization can be transformed into upgraded equipment, better technology, and new ways to keep both yourself and your ship operational. When the apocalypse is thousands of feet below, looking after your aircraft becomes every bit as important as looking after yourself.

Beneath the Dust Lies a Different World

Of course, staying in the skies only tells half the story. Eventually you'll need to descend through the toxic dust that has swallowed the planet, discovering an Earth transformed by ecological collapse. Strange new ecosystems have emerged, populated by unfamiliar wildlife and dangerous mutations, while long-forgotten research facilities and ruined landmarks hide the resources needed to continue your mission.

The goal isn't simply survival. Humanity's future depends on locating viral pathogens capable of curing a mysterious disease affecting the last survivors living in orbit, giving every journey into the wasteland genuine purpose beyond scavenging supplies. Whether you tackle that mission alone or alongside up to three friends in online co-op is entirely up to you.

Xbox Launch Brings The Final Echoes Update

Xbox players are stepping aboard with the game's most complete edition. Launching alongside the console release is The Final Echoes, a free update available across all platforms that rounds off months of community-driven improvements. It introduces additional story content, fresh side quests, new enemies, expanded combat encounters, custom difficulty settings, and a complete overhaul of several core systems, including airship damage and onboard electricity.

The update also expands exploration with new landmarks, greater location variety, and extra decorative items for players who enjoy making their airborne home feel a little more personal.

As for Xbox itself, the game is available only as the Deluxe Edition, which bundles the full experience with a cosmetic Supporter Pack containing the Pearl Emerald Airship Skin, a Predator Figurine, Digital Display Frame, and Laika and Felicetti Tribute Poster. While Forever Skies is not part of Xbox Game Pass, the launch brings the game's biggest wave of new content and gameplay improvements to date directly to Microsoft's platform.
