July has become the busiest month of the year for football fans on Xbox. With the World Cup currently underway, both EA Sports FC 26 and eFootball have launched dedicated updates that allow players to take control of the tournament experience directly from their consoles.
FC 26 Brings the World Cup Tournament to Xbox
Rather than offering a simple cosmetic update, EA Sports FC 26 has integrated the full international tournament structure into the game. The "World's Game" update includes 53 playable national teams, 41 of which are competing in the real-world tournament. The mode mirrors the current 48-team format, guiding players through the group stage, the Round of 32, and into the knockout brackets.
To capture the atmosphere of the competition, the update also adds Gillette Stadium and BMO Field. This allows players to simulate the full tournament run, providing an opportunity to test their own tactical decisions against the real-life fixtures taking place across North America.
eFootball International Cup and Rewards
For those who prefer a different approach, eFootball is running its International Cup 2026 event through July 23. The campaign begins with a league-based event against the AI before progressing into a knockout stage. This structure allows users to select a national team and guide them through the tournament route.
Konami has also introduced the "Football Festival" campaign to maintain player engagement during the knockout phase. Running from June 25 to July 23, the campaign offers:
- Campaign Gifts: Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal are available as free gifts.
- Progression Track: A 80-space progression track linked to PvP or AI results.
- Rewards: The track includes 22 National Stars chance deals, 200 eFootball Coins, 84,000 EXP, and 105,000 GP.
Additional objectives are scheduled to drop on July 9 and July 16, keeping the content cycle active as the real-world matches progress.
Expanding Beyond the Console
The scope of football gaming has expanded beyond traditional console play this month. Since June 11, FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition has been available via Netflix Games. This version features 48 teams and 16 stadiums and supports up to four players using smartphones as controllers via a QR-code connection, offering an alternative way to engage with the sport between major matches.
For those interested in the statistical side of the tournament, third-party platforms like Covers are providing refreshed looks at betting bonuses, including first-bet safety nets and profit boosts. Players looking to engage with these offers are encouraged to review the specific payout conditions and state availability before the opening kickoff of any given match.
