Game Freak has provided new details regarding the structure and length of its upcoming action title, Beast of Reincarnation. Ahead of its August 4, 2026 release, the studio confirmed that players can expect a campaign lasting between 30 and 40 hours.
Game Structure and Exploration
While Beast of Reincarnation features expansive environments, publisher Fictions clarified that the game is not a traditional open-world experience. Instead, the game is divided into several large, open regions that the story guides players through sequentially. These areas are not fully interconnected, and players will have limited opportunities to return to previous regions once they have moved forward in the narrative.
Director and writer Kota Furushima noted that the game's development has spanned five to six years, originating as an internal project designed to help the studio explore new creative directions beyond its work on the Pokémon series. The game is cited as being influenced by Blade Runner, while external comparisons have drawn parallels to action titles such as Sekiro, NieR, Stellar Blade, and Ghost of Yotei.
Combat and Gameplay Mechanics
Initial previews describe the game's foundation as a blend of traversal mechanics, RPG elements, and hard-action combat. While individual components are reported to be solid, the primary draw is the way these systems integrate into a single, flowing combat loop. The title aims to distinguish itself within the crowded field of action games that share similar core design principles.
Beast of Reincarnation will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on its launch day. For Xbox users, the game is confirmed as a day-one addition to the Xbox Game Pass library.
