The release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on July 31 has triggered a notable increase in interest for Insomniac Games' Spider-Man titles across both PC and PlayStation platforms.
Player Activity Surge
Data from Steam shows a 500% increase in concurrent players for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Prior to the film's debut, the title averaged roughly 2,000 players throughout June. By August 2, that figure climbed to a peak of 12,000 players.
Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered also saw a spike in engagement, peaking at approximately 15,000 concurrent players over the movie's opening weekend. This return in activity brought the title into Steam's top 100 most-played games for the first time since October 2023.
The impact is not limited to PC. On PlayStation, both Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered have appeared on the most-played charts, currently holding the #13 and #25 spots respectively.
Future Developments
Insomniac Games has confirmed that development is underway for Marvel's Spider-Man 3. While story details are currently limited, actor Yuri Lowenthal has confirmed he will return to voice Peter Parker, who will remain a main character in the next installment.
Before the next Spider-Man title, the studio is scheduled to release Marvel's Wolverine on September 15, 2026. This title will be an exclusive for the PlayStation 5 and will feature a story set three years after the protagonist leaves Team X, with mission locations including the Canadian wilderness, Tokyo, and the fictional island of Madripoor.
