Rockstar Games has released an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI, offering the first in-depth gameplay details for the multi-platform title. Following a brief subscription window on Netflix, the full deep dive became available on YouTube on August 28, 2026, showcasing 17 distinct gameplay features and mechanics.

Quick Facts

  • Release Date: November 19, 2026
  • Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X
  • New Additions: Karma system, 3D minimap, Red Dead Redemption 2-style NPC interactions, and up to a six-star wanted level.

Gameplay Mechanics and World Interaction

The extended footage confirms that players can interact with NPCs using a system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. Alongside these conversational mechanics, the game introduces a karma system and builds a criminal profile around the player's illegal actions.

Players can switch characters instantly between Jason and Lucia, with the game allowing users to determine the nature of their relationship. At home, characters can relax with drinks and watch TV adverts, or engage in numerous side activities scattered throughout the open world.

Combat and Police Systems

Combat and law enforcement have received significant overhauls. Aiming mechanics have been massively improved, and players can utilize bullet time during gunfights. On PlayStation 5, the game features specific haptic support.

Evading law enforcement is set to be tougher than in previous entries. Cops do not appear on the minimap, which is now rendered in 3D. Furthermore, the wanted level system scales all the way up to six stars, requiring advanced evasion strategies to escape pursuit.
