Nintendo and Monolith Soft have confirmed they are preparing a software update for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition to address two technical issues identified following the game's recent launch.

Confirmed Technical Issues

The developers have acknowledged the following bugs affecting the Switch 2 version:

  • Accessory Slot Reduction: Players may see their equipment slots decrease from three to two. This occurs if you have previously expanded your slots using the Accessory Expansion Kit and subsequently scan an amiibo to receive a "Bonus WP" reward.
  • Battle Audio Levels: The game's background music during combat is currently playing at a lower volume than intended.

Nintendo clarified that the accessory slot issue only triggers when receiving "Bonus WP" from an amiibo scan; other rewards do not cause this bug. Additionally, any accessories equipped in the third slot remain safely in your inventory and are not deleted when the error occurs.

Player Action Required

At this time, no action is required from players other than awaiting the upcoming patch. Nintendo has stated that it will provide a follow-up announcement once a release date for the update has been finalized. The company has apologized for the inconvenience caused by these technical errors.
