Survival in Welcome to the Game 3 requires a delicate balance of currency management, reputation building, and quick reflexes against both AI killers and human-controlled competitors. To succeed, you need to master the game's core software early.

1. How to Farm DOS Coin

DOS Coin is your primary resource. The most reliable way to generate it is through VirtMesh. Install this software immediately and use it to 'mount' or 'mine' computers.

  • Rotate your targets: You cannot stay on one computer indefinitely. Switch between targets to prevent being locked out.
  • Use INJ3KT-R: To hijack a computer, complete the grid minigame by pathing from A to B, alternating between light and dark tiles.
  • Prioritize high-yield networks: Focus on mining from NetVorn (1.45 DOS), UserJyx (1.80 DOS), and WebTyk (1.84 DOS).

2. Building Rep and Completing Requests

Reputation is earned primarily through the A.C.R.S. chat room. Treat this like an RPG quest board that refreshes every 30 minutes.

  • Ping users: If you see a user with a request, ping them to open a private CryptChat session.
  • Use ShadowFetch: Many requests involve converting URLs to MP4 files. Use ShadowFetch to process these files, which can then be sold for DOS Coin and Rep.
  • Defensive gains: Successfully evading an incoming hack from a competitor also rewards you with Rep XP.

3. Finding Keys

There are eight keys required to beat the game. Because these spawn randomly, you must hunt for new Dark Wikis to expand your reach. Key Hashes may appear in plain sight on a page or be hidden behind page elements. Use the magnifying glass icon in the top-right of your browser to check the source code if you are struggling to locate a key.

4. Blocking and Sending Hacks

Starting at 9:30 p.m., you will face increasingly difficult hacks. Familiarize yourself with these minigames:

  • K3RN3LC0MP1LER: Type the displayed text line by line within the time limit.
  • TOKENINE: Recreate the target shape using the grid.
  • memDEALLOCATOR: Click the key when it appears at the bottom to fill the allocation bar.
  • shiftSEQ: Use WASD to navigate and the spacebar to destroy infected nodes.
  • stackPUSHER: Move files to the center while avoiding skulls, similar to Minesweeper.

Note: You can purchase the NOP Sled from DarkDrop to skip these minigames entirely using your mouse scroll. If you want to retaliate, use A.C.R.S. to contact hackers and pay to target your competitors.

Protecting Your Assets

Lucas will attempt to steal your DOS Coins when he visits the motel. Use motion sensors to detect his arrival and click the power button in the bottom-left corner of your screen to shut down your PC before he reaches the back door. Additionally, if you have a Backdoor Hack installed, you can occasionally steal coins from competitors who fail to hack you.
