Developer updates for War Thunder on PC bring a round of critical bug fixes targeting aircraft weapon displays, missile behavior, and interface issues. Update 2.57.1.83 resolves multiple long-standing errors affecting combat readability and graphical settings.

Quick Facts

  • Platform: PC
  • Update Version: 2.57.1.83
  • Key Fixes: Weapon launch side HUD, anti-radiation missile tracking, and graphical shadow options

Weapons and Missile Fixes

Aircraft carrying two rockets per hardpoint previously encountered a mismatch where the top-left HUD indicator and bottom visual weapon selector displayed the wrong launch side. Update 2.57.1.83 corrects the interface logic across both display locations.

Anti-radiation missiles and Electronic Support Measures (ESM) sensors also received major adjustments. Previously, the ESM sensor's scan area interfered with semi-active radar homing missiles, causing targets outside working angles to lose tracking. Proximity fuze logic has additionally been recalibrated: calculations now use the specific spot on the aircraft fuselage that triggered the sensor rather than the model's center point, preventing excessive detonation delays during perpendicular engagements.

Interface and Graphics Improvements

Replay viewing has been cleaned up; the cursor now properly hides when pressing the "Screenshot without interface" button and no longer gets stuck during server replays. Ground Battles players will also notice the missing nuclear-armed aircraft button has returned, letting pilots deploy a nuke once enough spawn points are earned without leaving their current vehicle.

On the graphics side, a persistent bug that forced "Shadow Quality" and "Effect Quality" settings back to high and very high values has been fixed. Additionally, Ray Tracing tree shadows no longer jitter across the ground as the camera moves, and crew slot selection now features a more prominent frame.
